Everything in your FM-1's store, from the browser: the songs, the .sid tunes and the
instruments (a lifted sound is one). Download them, send your own, rename, delete, and back the whole
store up to one .zip and restore it. And any song, from the FM-1 or a file, exported for
GoatTracker 2 and its instruments as .ins files, by SIDOU's own song code running in the
page: what it accepts and refuses is what the FM-1 accepts and refuses.
This browser cannot reach the FM-1. That needs Web MIDI with SysEx, which Chrome and Edge have. Safari has no Web MIDI, and Firefox is not supported by this page. Use Chrome or Edge on a computer (Chrome on Android also works with a USB cable). Exporting a song from a file works in any browser.
1. Connect
Plug in the FM-1 (running SIDOU, not in the updater) and press Connect. The browser asks to use your MIDI devices with SysEx: allow it. This page sends nothing until you press Connect, and then only to the pair you see selected below.
Not connected.
2. On the FM-1
| Name | Type | Size | CRC-32 |
|---|
A file sent under a name the FM-1 already has is replaced only after you confirm; an identical one
is left alone. Rename reads the file, sends it under the new name and deletes the old one only once
the new one is stored. A backup holds every file listed here, with a sidou-backup.json
that keeps their names and types; restoring it sends back what is missing or different (asking
first) and deletes nothing. The FM-1's private files (a song or instrument it is importing, and the
copy it keeps until you SAVE AS) are never listed, so they are never read, backed up or touched.
While a song plays on the FM-1 (or a computer records its USB audio) it writes nothing, so the music
never dips: the page says it is waiting for the FM-1 to be quiet until you stop the song.
3. A song: export
The .sng is the song as the FM-1 saves it, SIDOU's settings kept in a
trailer GoatTracker 2 skips over. The plain GoatTracker file leaves them out, for tools that
refuse anything after the song; the page warns when GoatTracker would read it with another channel
count. Each instrument downloads as GoatTracker's .ins (GTI5), its table rows with it.
